About Us

Active Policy Solutions provides government relations and advocacy support to clients, specializing in sports, health, wellness, education, youth development, and civil rights policy.

Our team members have extensive experience in policy and government affairs work on the state and national level. We have Capitol Hill, non-profit, and business experience. We have a proven track record of advancing federal and state legislation, securing government relationships to advance our client’s goals, and planning and executing large Capitol Hill advocacy days. Client Showcase

Client: American College Health Association (ACHA)
Through advocacy, research, and education, ACHA stands at the forefront of issues that impact college students’ health and wellness. Some of APS’ advocacy work on ACHA’s behalf includes developing and advancing the concept of the CDC creating a voluntary, campus health and well-being tool, known as the College Health Index, and the legislation for this initiative is on track to be introduced in 2023. APS also regularly helps ACHA draft and submit public comments on member-impacting federal programs.

Client:  Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD)
AHEAD is the leading professional membership association for individuals committed to equity for persons with disabilities in higher education, both at the student level and beyond. APS has been instrumental in helping preserve the funding for the National Center for College Students with Disabilities, which AHEAD helps administer for the US Department of Education, and we are currently working with a Member of Congress to reintroduce the Pell Grant Flexibility federal legislation, which AHEAD inspired and would give college students with disabilities more flexibility to choose course loads without losing federal financial aid assistance.

Client: Girls on the Run (GOTR)
GOTR is an international non-profit organization that drives transformative change in the lives of girls in grades 3 through 8 through physical activity, with a focus on running. APS has worked with the US Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights on behalf of GOTR and its members to secure clarification on the rights of GOTR programs under Title IX. We have also worked extensively with Members of Congress to bring more awareness and visibility to GOTR programs, such as through having Members of Congress attend GOTR 5k events and local programs.

Client: Mid-American Conference (MAC)
The MAC is a Division I college athletics conference that hosts championships in 23 sports. Several key MAC initiatives include the development of the first-of-its-kind Conference-wide Mental Health Program, which includes a bi-annual Mental Health Summit to focus on student well-being. The highlights of APS’ advocacy work on behalf of the MAC include giving the MAC a voice in the federal discussions around college sports policies such as student-athlete status, name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals, and mental and physical health.

Client: National Guard Youth Foundation (NGYF)
The NGYF is a non-profit organization formed to advocate for the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program and to provide resources to its participants to ensure they maintain a path of success beyond graduation day. APS works closely with NGYF’s leadership to coordinate a virtual Hill Day event each year, where NGYF cadets in the ChalleNGe Program are given the opportunity to share their stories with some of their Members of Congress. Our most recent NGYF Hill Day in 2023 saw participation from 35 Congressional Offices, 10 of which were attended by the Members themselves, who spoke with cadets from across the US and learned more about NGYF’s efforts to get the ChalleNGe Program funding renewed for 2024.
